To rent an exotic car in Boston you need a valid driver's license, insurance that Bluebell Exotics can verify (or the no-insurance deposit route), a payment method for the booking deposit, balance and security deposit, and a signed rental agreement before the keys change hands. Every driver must be at least 21. The easiest way to avoid delays is to prepare in order: what to have ready before you book, what happens when you book, and what you need at pickup or delivery.
This checklist follows the same order as our how it works page. The age rules have their own guide: how old you have to be to rent an exotic car in Massachusetts.
What do you need to rent an exotic car in Boston? The short version
| You need | Why |
|---|---|
| A valid driver's license (every driver) | Checked during verification |
| Insurance details, or the no-insurance deposit route | Verified before the rental starts |
| A payment method | Booking deposit, remaining balance and security deposit |
| A signed rental agreement | Reviewed and signed before pickup or delivery |
| Approval for any second driver | Must be listed on the agreement in advance |
48 hours before: gather these
Your license. A valid driver's license is required for every authorized driver. Foreign licenses and International Driving Permits are accepted. If you plan to use one, mention it when you book, because there is an extra deposit arrangement for foreign licenses.
Your insurance. Using your own insurance is the standard route. Bring your policy details and the contact for your insurance agency, because we verify coverage directly with the insurer. Your policy should meet the coverage requirements listed on our rental policies page. If you do not have qualifying coverage, you can rent on a no-insurance security deposit instead. The security deposit depends on your insurance situation, not on the car, and it is refundable.
Your second driver, if any. Adding a second driver is free, but they must be approved in advance and listed on the rental agreement, and they must meet the same requirements. A person who is not on the agreement is not permitted to drive the car.
Your plans. Tell us where you will drive. Leaving Massachusetts requires advance written notice to us and our agreement. Some uses are not permitted at all: ride-share or taxi use, subletting, track days, off-road driving, driving instruction and anything illegal. There is no smoking and no pets in the cars, with the exception of service animals.
Booking day: what happens
There are two ways to book. You can book online: pick your car in the fleet, choose your dates and pickup or delivery location on the car's page, and pay the booking deposit there. Our team then contacts you to collect your license and insurance details and complete verification. Or you can send a reservation request through the reservation form, by phone, WhatsApp or Messenger, and we verify your license and insurance before you pay the booking deposit. Either way, verification has to be finished before the rental starts. Insurers are generally reachable by phone on weekdays, so timing depends on their hours; if you are booking a weekend trip, start on a weekday. Need a car today? The booking deposit is 50% of your total, up to $500, so any rental over $1,000 pays exactly $500. It counts toward your total. Cancellation is counted by the hour: cancel more than seven days (168 hours) before pickup and the booking deposit is refunded in full. From exactly seven days before, it is not refundable, but you can reschedule. If severe weather such as a blizzard prevents the rental, the deposit carries over to a future booking.
Pickup or delivery day: what to have in hand
- Your government-issued license (and any International Driving Permit if you are using a foreign license).
- Your payment method for the remaining balance, and a way to cover the security deposit: a temporary charge on a credit card, or payment by debit card, cash or Zelle.
- Your signed rental agreement. It must be reviewed and signed before pickup or delivery.
- Any second driver, with their license, if they will be on the agreement.
Pickup is at 650 Ocean Ave, Revere, MA 02151. Delivery to your home, hotel or business is available in Massachusetts and, for some cars, in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Which states we deliver to depends on the car. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Lamborghini Urus, McLaren 570S Spider, Porsche 911 GT3 and Cadillac Escalade ESV can go to all eight, and every other car in the fleet is delivered in Massachusetts only. Delivery is measured from our Revere location: the first 10 miles are free, and rentals of three days or more are delivered free. On shorter rentals, miles beyond the first 10 cost $2.50 per mile, and drop-off and collection are each charged separately, one way. We give you the quote before you commit. Browse the fleet to match a car to your trip.
What you pay beyond the daily rate
Day rates on our pricing page are before the 6.25% Massachusetts sales tax and the $2 state police training surcharge per rental. Each day includes 100 miles, pooled across the whole rental. Fuel is judged against the level at handover, and the car comes back at that level or you are charged a refueling fee. Parking and toll bills that come later are invoiced separately.
After the rental
You return the car at the agreed location and it gets a brief inspection. We begin releasing the security deposit within 24 hours of the post-rental inspection, and how quickly it posts depends on your bank. There is more on every question above in our FAQ.
