A same day exotic car rental in Boston is sometimes possible, but it is not something we can promise in advance. The timing depends on three things: whether the car you want is free that day, whether your license and insurance are verified, and whether your insurer can be reached. That last one sets the clock, because insurance companies generally only answer verification calls during business hours. Send your request as early in the day as you can, and we will tell you what is realistic for your dates.
Why insurance checks decide how fast you can drive
Before any rental starts, we verify your driver's license and your insurance. We contact your insurance agency directly, and that call has to reach a person. The typical windows are:
- Monday to Friday: generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.
- Saturday: some insurers take calls on Saturdays; many don't.
- Sunday: most insurers are closed, so verification is harder to finish the same day.
These are general patterns, not a promise from any specific company, and they can change. We also review requests as they come in, but we cannot verify coverage outside the hours when an insurer is reachable.
There is one way around the clock: the no-insurance route. If you rent without using your own insurance, you leave a larger refundable security deposit instead, and there is no insurer to call, so insurer hours, evenings and weekends stop being the limit. We still verify your license, and the car still has to be free.
When can you realistically pick up? A day-of-week guide
This table shows when a request is most likely to move fast and when it will probably wait. "Possible" never means confirmed. A final yes depends on the car being available and the verification coming back clean.
| You request | What to expect | Earliest realistic verification window |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday, morning | Strongest chance of a same-day handover, if the car is free and verification clears during insurer hours | Same day, within the insurer's roughly 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET window |
| Weekday, afternoon | Possible if the insurer can be reached before it closes; otherwise likely next day | Same day if reached before about 5:00 p.m. ET; otherwise the next business day from about 8:00 a.m. ET |
| Friday after 5:00 p.m. ET or weekday evening | Verification waits until the insurer opens; plan on the next business day | Next business day from about 8:00 a.m. ET (Monday if requested Friday evening) |
| Saturday | Possible if your insurer takes calls on Saturday | Same day if your insurer is open; otherwise we will tell you the earliest realistic time |
| Sunday | Harder, because most insurers are closed; ask and we will tell you what is realistic | Same day if verification can be completed; otherwise the next business day |
Even inside these windows, a handover is never guaranteed: the car must be free and the verification must come back clean.
If your trip starts on a weekend, starting the process on the Thursday or Friday before makes a smooth handover much more likely. A same-day weekend request is still worth sending: we will tell you quickly whether it can work. Our how it works page shows the steps in order, including the documents and details to have ready.
What speeds things up
- Send everything in one message: dates, car, pickup or delivery address, and the name of your insurance company and policy number.
- Have your license ready. Every authorized driver needs a valid license. Foreign licenses and International Driving Permits are accepted. Our pre-booking checklist has the full list.
- Name a second driver early. They must be approved in advance and listed on the agreement, and they must be at least 21.
- Be flexible on the car. If your first choice is booked, browse the fleet for an alternative the same day.
- Consider the no-insurance route if you need the car outside insurer hours, or if your own coverage does not qualify. There is no insurer call to wait for; you leave a larger refundable security deposit instead. The deposit depends on your insurance situation, not on the car.
Same-day delivery or same-day pickup
Pickup is at 650 Ocean Ave, Revere, MA 02151. Delivery to a home, hotel or business is available in Massachusetts for every car, and in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island for the Cullinan, Urus, 570S Spider, 911 GT3 and Escalade ESV only. A same-day delivery is subject to the same insurance verification timing, and there is no extra fee for booking the same day. Delivery is measured from Revere: the first 10 miles are free, and rentals of three days or longer are delivered free. On shorter rentals, miles beyond 10 cost $2.50 per mile, with drop-off and collection each charged separately, one way. See the service areas page for the full list.
Rates on the pricing page are before 6.25% Massachusetts sales tax and other fees. Each day includes 100 miles, pooled across the whole rental.
A sample plan for a weekday request
Suppose you decide on Tuesday morning that you want a car that afternoon. Send the full request first thing, including the insurer's name. We check availability and begin license and insurance verification. If the insurer answers within its business hours and the car is free, handover that day may be possible. If the insurer closes before it answers, verification resumes the next morning, and the handover moves to Wednesday. Either way you know where you stand early, which is why the first hour of the day matters more than the last.
What can hold it up
- The car you want is already booked or out that day.
- Your insurer cannot be reached in time, such as after its business hours.
- The insurer asks for more documents than you can supply that day.
- Your license cannot be verified.
- You want to leave Massachusetts and have not told us in writing beforehand.
In those cases we will tell you the earliest realistic time rather than promise one we cannot keep.
